矯角殺牛(교각살우)

뿔을 바로 잡으려다 소를 죽이다(角を矫めて牛を杀す).
흠이나 결점을 고치려 하다가 일 전체를 그르치다.
본래는 좋은 마음을 가지고 하지만, 실제로는 해가 된다(心欲愛之, 實爲害之)는 의미이다.
矯枉過正(교왕과정)은 구부러진 물건을 바로 잡으려다가 정도를 지나치다, 즉 잘못된 일을 바로 잡으려다가 너무 지나치어 오히려 나쁘게 하다는 의미이다.
한국속담에서도 "쇠뿔 잡다가 소 죽인다"고 한다.
"빈대 잡으려다 초가삼간 태우다"는 속담과 같은 의미이다.
중국에서는 쓰지 않고, 주로 한국이나 일본에서 쓰는 사자성어이다.
