不越雷池一步(불월뇌지일보)

뇌지(雷池)를 한 걸음도 넘어서는 안 된다.

雷池 - 현재 안후이성(安徽省) 내의 지역

함부로 침범하여서는 안 된다.

주제넘은 행동을 하여서는 안 된다.

어떤 일을 할 때에 일정한 범위나 한계를 넘어서는 안 된다.

不敢越雷池一步(불감월뇌지일보)라고도 한다.

dare not go one step beyond the limit

dare not go one step beyond the prescribed limit

dare not to surpass a certain range and limit

dare not exceed the utmost limits one can go

not overstepping the prescribed limits

stay strictly within bounds

keep within the bounds

서수를 걱정하며, 역양을 지나, 현재 뇌지를 한 걸음도 넘지 않고 있다.
