三個臭皮匠, 勝過一個諸葛亮(삼개취피장, 승과일개제갈량)이라고도 한다.
皮匠(피장)은 실제로는 裨將(비장)을 가리키고, 비장은 장군을 곁에서 돕는 부장(副將)을 의미하므로, 본래는 세 명의 부장이 지혜를 모으면 제갈량의 지혜를 능가한다는 의미이다.
